Pat McAfee thinks there is no chance he gets offered ‘MNF’ gig
Former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee has been mentioned as a possible color analyst in ESPN’s new “Monday Night Football” booth, but don’t tell that to him.
McAfee made an “official” statement on Sunday regarding the “MNF” gig, saying that he essentially does not think he has any chance of landing the opportunity.
The #MNF conversation has started back up..
My Official Statement:
“Although I believe it’s a massive honor & I’d be able to help figure out how to make #MNF MUST WATCH TV for the right reasons again.. there isn’t the slightest chance in hell that I get offered that job.” pic.twitter.com/goRSkLYMnY

It sure sounds like McAfee would take the job if offered it, but he believes ESPN has other preferences. McAfee’s style may not gel with what ESPN ultimately envisions the telecast to be.
McAfee’s name has floated around a bit, but ESPN does seem to have other leading preferences. It’s a shame, because McAfee would be very entertaining on “MNF.”
