Paternity test shows Josh Gordon is the father

Josh-Gordon

The results of a paternity test that came back this week showed that Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is the father of a 1-year-old girl from Maple Heights, Ohio.

An arrest warrant was issued for Gordon last week after he refused to submit the DNA sample. The initial complaint was filed by a woman named Christina Lockhart on July 2, 2015. Court records showed that Lockhart was seeking child support and Gordon was sent multiple subpoenas and ignored them all. He finally appeared in court and submitted the sample after the warrant was issued.

Joseph Stafford, Lockhart’s attorney, said future court hearings will determine how much Gordon must pay in back child support and how much he will pay going forward. As Adam Ferrise of Cleveland.com notes, the test revealed with 99.9 percent certainty that Gordon is the father.

Gordon’s attorney in the case, Kevin Spellacy, claims his client was never aware of the subpoenas and was quick to show up to court as soon as he was made aware of the warrant.

Thursday also happens to be the day Gordon announced he is putting his NFL career on hold to address problems he has had with addiction.
