Kansas City Royals prospect Jac Caglianone is expected to make his MLB debut on Tuesday, and Patrick Mahomes seems as excited about that as anyone.
The Royals are planning to promote Caglianone to the majors for Tuesday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, according to multiple reports. Caglianone, the sixth overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, is one of the top prospects in baseball.
After the news surfaced on Sunday that Caglianone is being called up, Mahomes had a funny reaction via social media. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback shared a popular GIF from “The Office.”

Mahomes joined the Royals’ ownership group as a minority stakeholder in 2020, so he is personally invested in Caglianone’s career. He is also a former baseball player and huge fan of the game, which we were reminded of with how hyped he was when the Royals were in the playoffs last year.
Caglianone was a star at Florida and made a name for himself with his tremendous power. The 22-year-old clobbered a home run last season that traveled well over 500 feet (video here).
The Royals fell to 31-29 after losing two out of three to the Cleveland Guardians over the weekend. They’re eight games behind the AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers but just one game back in the wild card race.
Mahomes and others are hoping Caglianone can live up to the hype and help carry the Royals back to the postseason.
