Raiders fans appear to be recreating ‘Black Hole’ in Las Vegas

The Black Hole looks set to migrate from Oakland to Las Vegas after all.

Some Raiders fans panicked after rendering showed the north end zone of the new Allegiant Stadium with field-level club seating, but the south end zone appears to be morphing into the new Black Hole.

According to Raiders president Marc Badain, many fans sitting in Oakland’s original Black Hole have purchased season tickets in the south end zone to continue the tradition, with 40 percent of season ticket holders coming from outside the state of Nevada.

“A lot of the folks that sit in the Black Hole in Oakland bought tickets in the south end zone at Allegiant,” Badain said, via Mick Akers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “Whether that happens organically, we’ll see what happens.”

Cisco Ortega, the vice president of the Oakland chapter of the Black Hole, is now the president of the Las Vegas chapter and expects to see many members making the move.

“I believe there’s about eight (members in the south end zone),” Ortega said. “There will be other Black Hole members in the section over and different sections in the stadium. … I know that area is known as the Black Hole area, but the entire coliseum in Oakland we had Black Hole members throughout that whole stadium.”

The Black Hole’s significance to Raiders fans is no secret, and it simply had to find its way to Vegas somehow. If enough of these fans make their way over, the new Allegiant Stadium should have a fairly intimidating atmosphere from day one.
