Raiders reportedly in talks to play games at AT&T Park in 2019

The Oakland Raiders are exploring possible venues to play their home games in 2019, and it sounds like there’s a good chance they could end up in an MLB ballpark.

Raj Mathai of NBC Bay Area reported on Friday that the Raiders have been engaged with the San Francisco Giants about the possibility of playing football games at AT&T Park next season. An arrangement between the teams is said to be a “distinct possibility.”

The city of Oakland filed a lawsuit against the Raiders last week that alleges the team violated antitrust laws and the league’s rules when they “boycotted” the city in their move to Las Vegas. The stadium where the Raiders are going to play in Vegas is not close to completion, and the belief is that there’s very little chance they will remain in Oakland next season in the wake of the lawsuit.

Several cities are being looked at as potential homes for the Raiders in 2019, and at least one of them is nowhere near Oakland. While playing at AT&T Park might present some challenges, it would make sense geographically as a layover stop on the way to Vegas.
