Raiders signing TE Darren Waller to contract extension
Darren Waller has developed into a favorite target of Derek Carr this season, and the Oakland Raiders want to keep their tight end around long term.
The Raiders are signing Waller to a three-year contract extension, according to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero. The deal reportedly will pay Waller around $9 million per season.
Unique deal for Waller, who is expected to get around $9 million a year on what will essentially be a three-year extension after the would-be RFA year. Security now as Waller’s remarkable comeback continues. https://t.co/5LFA7jgU0q

The Raiders signed Waller off the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad in November and he has blossomed with them. Waller has 37 catches for 359 yards this season and one of the highest catch rates in the league.
