Tom Brady continues to seemingly exert his influence on the Las Vegas Raiders.
Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports reported on Friday that the Raiders have signed veteran linebacker Devin White in free agency. White is reportedly getting a one-year deal from Las Vegas.
The 27-year-old White, an All-Pro in 2020 as well as a Pro Bowler in 2021, was teammates on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the legendary quarterback Brady, who is now a part-owner of the Raiders. The two played together in Tampa from 2020-22 and won Super Bowl LV together during the 2020 NFL season.

Schultz also notes that White is familiar with John Spytek, the general manager of the Raiders. Spytek was previously an executive for the Buccaneers and was part of the regime that drafted White back in 2019 (with the No. 5 overall pick).
That said, there is a reason why White had been unsigned to this point of the offseason. White’s run in Tampa ended in infamy after he demanded a trade from the team in 2023 and then quit on them by refusing to enter a game. He then ultimately left in the offseason to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles but failed to play a single snap for them before being released.
White finished out last season with the Houston Texans, appearing in seven games and logging 19 combined tackles. There probably is not much upside left with White. But it at least helps that he has a connection to Brady, who is said to be running everything in Las Vegas and also has another one of his former teammates as part of the Raiders ownership group.
