The Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly getting set to move on from a player who was a full-time starter for them last season.
The Raiders are working to trade cornerback Jack Jones, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Sunday. If efforts to trade Jones are not successful, he is expected to be cut on Monday.
Jones played in all 17 games for the Raiders last season and made 16 starts. He had 69 total tackles and 3 interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown.
Jones landed with Las Vegas midway through the 2023 season after he was waived by the New England Patriots. The former fourth-round pick was suspended for the final game of the 2022 for an unknown violation of team rules.
Several months later, Jones was arrested at Logan Airport in Boston after two firearms were found in his carry-on luggage. The charges were dropped just ahead of the 2023 season after Jones agreed to one year of pretrial probation and 48 hours of community service.
Jones was the target of more criticism early last season after a video went viral that appeared to show him not giving full effort during a game.
Jones is a talented player, but the character concerns have resulted in him bouncing around to multiple teams across his first few NFL seasons. It sounds like it is only a matter of time before the former Arizona State star will be searching for another.
