Randy Moss started crying during ovation from Patriots fans

Randy Moss crying during an ovation from Patriots fans

The New England Patriots inducted Tom Brady into their Hall of Fame during a sold-out ceremony on Wednesday night, but the former quarterback was not the only one who was brought to tears by the 60,000 fans in attendance.

The Patriots invited several special guests to the event, including Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss. When host Mike Tirico asked Moss to talk about New England’s record-breaking season in 2007, Moss had to pause to let the fans at Gillette Stadium finish their thunderous ovation.

After hearing fans cheer and chant his name for about 30 seconds, Moss began to cry.

Moss eventually composed himself and apologized because “this is 12’s night,” but Brady undoubtedly had no problem sharing the spotlight with his former teammate.

Moss played for New England from 2007-2010. His 23 touchdown catches in 2007 are still the NFL record for most touchdown receptions in a single season. The Patriots, of course, went 18-1 that season after losing to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII.

Though Moss was not part of any of the Patriots’ six Super Bowl champion teams, he is still one of the most beloved players in franchise history. He even cracked a great joke about not having a ring during the recent roast of Brady. While Wednesday was Brady’s night, fans in New England did not want to pass on an opportunity to show their appreciation for Moss.
