Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh says running back Ray Rice will be attending a couples seminar with fiancee Janay Palmer following the physical incident between the two at an Atlantic City hotel three weeks ago.
Harbaugh spoke with reporters on Wednesday and said he talked with Rice to hear the running back’s side of the story.
“Ray has told me his side of it, and everything we’ve seen so far is very consistent with what he said,” Harbaugh said via ESPN’s Jamison Hensley.
Harbaugh says Rice is working to resolve his issues with Palmer, whom he has dated since 2008.
“I know Ray is going to spend a week at a seminar type of thing as a couples-type deal. He’s doing everything he can to do what he needs to do and make things right,” said Harbaugh.
Rice and Palmer met in high school and began dating shortly before Rice was drafted by the Ravens in 2008. They have been engaged for two years.
Both were charged with simple assault following an alleged physical incident in an Atlantic City hotel. Police reportedly have video of Rice knocking out Palmer. Video has already become public showing Rice dragging an unconscious Palmer out of an elevator.
Police have referred the case to prosecutors for review.
