The Washington Redskins have finally waived Matt Jones.
Jones dealt with rumors all offseason that Washington was planning to jettison him, but they waited until final cutdown day before waiving him.
Jones was a third-round pick in 2015 and a favorite of former Washington GM Scot McCloughan, who still maintains a strong belief in the back. The Florida product rushed for 490 yards and had 304 receiving yards as a rookie and averaged 4.6 yards per carry last season.

Washington was likely holding onto Jones in hopes of trading him. After not finding any takers, they released him.
Some team will pick him up once he becomes available.
