Reggie Bush wins $12.5 million in lawsuit with Rams

Reggie Bush

Reggie Bush may be retired from the NFL, but he has racked up one final victory.

The former running back won his lawsuit against the St. Louis Rams, as a jury awarded him nearly $12.5 million in compensatory and punitive damages, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Bush was suing the Rams over an injury he suffered during the 2015 NFL season at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis. In a Nov. 1 game against the Rams, the former San Francisco 49ers running back slipped on a concrete ring around the field and injured his knee. Josh McCown had also suffered an injury on the concrete there the prior week.

A week later, Bush decided to sue the Rams for negligence. The concrete ring was fixed with rubber padding covering the hazardous area.

Bush suffered a season-ending MCL injury from the slip and fall. Though he saw some time with the Bills the next season, that was essentially the end of his pro career. Some of the money he was awarded was based on the argument that the injury cost him a shot at a multi-million dollar contract.
