Report: Eagles interested in Carlos Hyde

Carlos Hyde

The Philadelphia Eagles have high expectations for Miles Sanders heading into his second NFL season, but they may be looking to bring in a proven veteran to pair with the former second-round pick.

NFL insider Adam Caplan said on his latest “Inside the Birds” podcast with Geoff Mosher that the Eagles have interest in free agent back Carlos Hyde.

“They want to sign a veteran running back … The guy that I know they have some interest in, and we’ll see if it happens, is a guy that’s really, really talented. The Eagles, I’m told, have interest in him … I’m told Hyde is a guy they’re targeting,” Caplan said, as transcribed by Brandon Lee Gowton of Bleeding Green Nation.

Hyde will turn 30 in December, but he rushed for over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career with the Houston Texans last season. His 4.4 yards per carry was the second-highest mark of his career. Hyde scored six touchdowns.

Sanders rushed for 818 yards and averaged 4.6 yards per carry in 2019, so the Eagles likely feel that the two backs would be a nice complement to one another.
