The decision to start Robert Griffin III on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings came from Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder and GM Bruce Allen, according to a report.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that many members of the team believe Snyder and Allen made the call to have RG3 start over Colt McCoy, who led the team to victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night and the Tennessee Titans the week before after entering in the second half.
Though Griffin is regarded favorably by the team owner and GM, reports say the quarterback’s status among teammates is less supportive.

ESPN’s Britt McHenry reported that Griffin “alienated himself” from the team’s locker room, which seems somewhat like a hollow report. Perhaps that has to do with how RG3 has handled himself since being hurt in Week 2. They also report that many teammates acted disrespectfully when Griffin addressed the media after being named the starter. They say the teammates made a lot of noise during RG3’s session with the media.
It’s reasonable for teammates to be agitated if one player was named the new starter when the last guy won two in a row, but let’s be real about who the franchise QB is. It’s Griffin for good reason. The guy seems like a windbag and has been injured a ton, but he is a good quarterback and a much more steady option than Kirk Cousins or Colt McCoy. Those guys are backups at best; RG3 is a legit franchise quarterback.
