Richard Sherman gets into it with reporter over details of NFLPA meeting
Representatives from the NFL Players Association met with a group of agents who represent several players earlier this week, and Richard Sherman is not pleased with the way one reporter is claiming the meeting went.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk wrote on Sunday that he obtained a memo sent by the NFLPA to “all registered contract advisors explaining the tone and content of the meeting,” and the memo indicated there were some tense moments. One in particular reportedly came when an agent criticized an unnamed player over a contract he signed previously.
“There was a portion of the meeting when one agent made an unfortunate remark that many players interpreted as extremely condescending, and during a rather heated exchange about the ‘roles’ of the agents in this business, other agents specifically and personally targeted an Executive Committee member about the contract that he signed,” the memo read.
Florio reported that the player the memo was referring to was Sherman, who negotiated his own contract with the San Francisco 49ers last offseason. While Florio said he was just passing on a memo that was sent by the NFLPA, Sherman accused him of sensationalizing and said the meeting was “constructive.”
Lmao this is such a joke. I was in the meeting. Constructive conversation but hey I guess that headline isn’t sensational enough. https://t.co/LOoC3tExpd

I guess I need to post the entire memo and let the readers decide. https://t.co/VpIeJeU8Pj

Should I post the email between you and the agents? https://t.co/C2YvjUcZWt

Sherman had some questionable remarks about agents when he made the decision to represent himself entering the final year of his contract with the Seattle Seahawks, so it would not be a surprise if that is a source of tension. However, he obviously feels that there was some exaggeration in the report about the meeting.
