The San Francisco 49ers won a huge game over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, but it may cost them a key part of their defense, at least temporarily.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, cornerback Richard Sherman underwent an MRI on his injured hamstring Monday. He’s still sore, and it sounds like he’ll have a hard time getting ready in time to face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 15.
#49ers CB Richard Sherman underwent an MRI this morning on his injured hamstring, which is pretty sore a day after that wild win over the #Saints, source said. Status in doubt for Sunday against the #Falcons, but he’ll do everything he can to be ready.

Sherman departed early during San Francisco’s wild 48-46 win. He spent last week nursing a knee injury, but was not on the final injury report and did not appear hobbled in any way during the game until suffering this new issue.

The good news is that the Falcons shouldn’t be the toughest opponent for the 49ers and their recent dominance. They’ll want Sherman to be right in time for the playoffs, so don’t expect the team to push him.
