Robby Anderson has felony charges dropped, only facing reckless driving

Robby Anderson was arrested for the second time in a year back in January and was facing a total of nine charges, but the New York Jets wide receiver looks like he is going to get off quite easy.

Anderson was arrested on Jan. 19 after he reportedly sped past a marked police car while driving over 105 mph. He then allegedly threatened to sexually assault an officer’s wife, and some of his charges included harm to a public servant/family, reckless driving, eluding police, and resisting arrest. According to Andy Slater of WINZ, the felony charges have been dropped and Anderson is now only facing one misdemeanor count of reckless driving.

“There was a possible discrepancy regarding the initial estimated speed, but there is no doubt that the defendant was driving recklessly,” a Broward State Attorney spokesperson told Slater. “The other charges were declined, not filed, due to insufficient evidence.”

Anderson had a breakout season with the Jets in 2017, catching 63 passes for 941 yards and and seven touchdowns. He was also arrested last year for allegedly getting into a physical altercation with a police officer at a music festival. Despite the two arrests, the Jets have not indicated that they are going to release the 24-year-old.
