Roman Harper on the Panthers: ‘Yeah, we’re better’ than Arizona

Roman Harper is feeling confident ahead of the NFC championship game.

The Panthers safety raised some eyebrows last week when he asserted that Carolina was better than Seattle. Now he’s doing the same with his comments about how the team compares to the Arizona Cardinals.

“Yeah, we’re better. We’ve just got to go out there and play,” Harper said Wednesday, via Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer. “I feel like we’re the best team. We’ve been the best team all year long. We’re not going to shy away from that. We’re going to continue to be who we are.”

Isn’t Harper worried about providing bulletin board material? Well, no. He said the same thing before playing Seattle, and he accurately pointed out how that went.

“I think (Seattle is) at home right now, so yeah,” Harper said.

The Panthers did go 15-1, so as far as records go, Harper has a point. Coach Ron Rivera has previously voiced his opinion that the Panthers don’t get the respect they deserve, and perhaps he’s right when a player on the team that posted the best record in the NFL raises eyebrows by saying that they are, indeed, the best team. Plus, you can be sure that whatever the case, Harper will play hard enough to try to back up his words, as this will tell you.
