Russell Wilson takes shot at Bleacher Report for grading Seahawks’ 2012 draft an F

Russell Wilson Seahawks

russell-wilson-seahawksThe Seattle Seahawks are Super Bowl champions, which automatically validates almost everything the team has done over the course of the past few seasons. Pete Carroll and company have obviously drafted well and signed the right free agents. Although, one Bleacher Report writer thought the Seahawks fell flat on their faces in the 2012 NFL Draft.

In April 2012, the Seahawks drafted Russell Wilson. They also used one of their picks in the 2012 NFL Draft to acquire Marshawn Lynch in 2010. Those two, among others, have been kind of important to Seattle’s success. Wilson reminded everyone of that on Wednesday.

Here’s what Bleacher Report’s Donald Wood had to say about Wilson and the Seahawks at the time:

Pete Carroll is proving why he didn’t make it in the NFL the first time. Not only was Bruce Irvin a reach at No. 15, the Seahawks proved they were oblivious to their madness by celebrating their selection.

As if the day wasn’t bad enough, Seattle selecting Russell Wilson, a QB that doesn’t fit their offense at all, was by far the worst move of the draft. With the two worst moves of the draft, Seattle is the only team that received an F on draft day.

The Seahawks also drafted linebacker Bobby Wagner in the second round of the 2012 draft. The former Utah State star has recorded 260 combined tackles in two seasons and racked up 34 during this year’s playoffs. Robert Turbin, who has served as a quality compliment to Lynch and could be the future of Seattle’s backfield, was taken in the fourth round.

Enough said.
