The Washington Commanders made a massive move to bolster their defense ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday.

The Commanders have acquired Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore in a trade with the New Orleans Saints, according to multiple reports. Washington has agreed to send a third-round draft pick, fourth-round pick and sixth-round pick to the Saints in exchange for Lattimore and a fifth-round pick.

Lattimore had reportedly drawn interest from several teams, but the Commanders offered the strongest package for the 28-year-old.

Lattimore has been one of the best cover corners in the NFL since the Saints drafted him with the 11th overall pick out of Ohio State in 2017. He has made the Pro Bowl in four of his seven NFL seasons and has 15 career interceptions. Injuries have been an issue for him in recent years, but Lattimore has looked healthy this season.

The Commanders have been one of the most surprising teams in the NFL this season. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has played at a high level and led the team to a 7-2 record.

Washington looks like a legitimate contender in the NFC, and their trade for Lattimore proves they are going all-in on trying to make a deep run.
