Sashi Brown backtracks on statement that Brock Osweiler will make Browns
Brock Osweiler’s future with the Cleveland Browns remains extremely murky.
The quarterback won’t be made to feel any better by comments made by the team’s head of football operations Sashi Brown, who softened his previous stance in which he said he’d be “surprised if Osweiler is not on the roster at the start of the season.”
“Brock’s done a nice job and all four of the quarterbacks have done a nice job,” Brown said Thursday, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “We’re looking to evaluate them. I’m not going to get into cutting the roster tonight. I probably shouldn’t have said that the first time, but Brock has been a good professional, and he’s been a good presence in that room which is very young.”
Brown also indicated that the team would keep only two or three quarterbacks, with coach Hue Jackson affirming that on Friday. DeShone Kizer will start, while the team also has Osweiler, Cody Kessler, and Kevin Hogan on the roster.

Osweiler may prove to be the odd man out. He’s the most expensive of the group, and reports emerged last week indicating that Cleveland wanted to move him. Right now, though, the team is not showing their hand.
