Seahawks-Bills officiating crew reportedly will not face discipline for errors

Walt Anderson’s officiating crew reportedly will not face any special discipline for their performance during the Monday Night Football game between the Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills.

A source told ESPN’s Adam Caplan that the crew wouldn’t be disciplined for a series of mistakes made at the end of the first half, but would be subject to the typical officiating review conducted by the NFL on a weekly basis. The league grades out officials throughout the season, and the highest performers receive playoff assignments.

Anderson’s crew will not officiate in Week 10, but this is due to a previously scheduled bye week, not any repercussions from their showing on Monday night.

You can read about the errors Anderson’s crew made here, and you can see why there was some question of discipline given how quickly the criticism came in from those who know the rule book well.
