Report: Seahawks do not have permission to speak to Jadeveon Clowney
Houston Texans pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney is casting his eyes elsewhere as trade speculation heats up, but he apparently hasn’t been given the chance to speak with one of his preferred destinations.
According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, Clowney has not been granted permission to speak with the Seattle Seahawks as he has with the Miami Dolphins.
One note on Clowney — teams have to be given permission to talk to him right now, as Miami has been given. My understanding is Seattle does not have that permission right now.

Reports were widespread Tuesday indicating that Clowney had permission to speak to Miami in light of potential trade talks. It was also reported that the Dolphins were not one of his preferred destinations, but the Seahawks would be. It’s not clear if this is an indication that the Texans are farther along with talks with Miami, or if they would simply prefer to keep Clowney from going to Seattle.
Clowney is still holding out from the Texans and is refusing to sign his franchise tender. Houston cannot trade him until he does, so he has a fair bit of leverage here. The 26-year-old collected nine sacks in 15 games last season.
