Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay made some notable comments about the Cooper Kupp trade rumors following Thursday night’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.

After the Rams beat the Vikings 30-20 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., McVay spoke about the boost L.A. received from getting Kupp and Puka Nacua back. McVay also made it clear he is not anticipating any trade involving Kupp.

“I’m really glad to have Cooper Kupp back with us and I expect it to stay that way,” McVay said, via Michael Baca of NFL.com.

McVay acknowledged that teams have reached out to the Rams about Kupp, but he said there have been things reported about the situation that are “just not true.” The coach was likely referring to the report that claimed the Rams are ready to move on from Kupp and willing to eat some of the 31-year-old’s salary to help facilitate a deal.

Of course, it would only hurt L.A.’s position if they were looking to trade Kupp and McVay admitted it publicly. McVay could simply be trying to maintain leverage if the Rams are shopping Kupp to rival teams.

Kupp returned on Thursday night from an ankle injury that had kept him out since Week 2. He finished with 5 catches for 51 yards and a touchdown.

Nacua made an even bigger impact. The second-year wideout played for the first time since he suffered a knee injury in Week 1, and his return was unexpected. The belief was that Nacua would be limited, but he led the Rams with 7 catches for 106 yards.

If the Rams do decide to trade Kupp, one AFC contender is listed as the heavy favorite to acquire the former Offensive Player of the Year.
