Sean McVay is planning to lean more on one of the Los Angeles Rams’ lesser-known wide receivers this coming season.

The Rams’ wideout room was revamped following the departure of longtime WR1 Cooper Kupp. The team signed All-Pro Davante Adams to take Cupp’s place. Adams and Puka Nacua are likely to be the top two targets for quarterback Matthew Stafford next season.

McVay recently told reporters that aside from Adams and Nacua, wide receiver Tutu Atwell could be a more consistent fixture in the Rams’ offense next season. The Rams head coach admitted that he has not “done a good enough job of utilizing” Atwell, who quietly tallied the third-most receiving yards and catches for the Rams last season.

“When you look at the times when he’s been able to play,” McVay said, via Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper. “Whether that be because some people were out or not, he has produced and he’s delivered, and we’re looking forward to seeing more of that ascension.”

McVay added that he’s likely to feature Atwell in “a lot” of three-receiver sets alongside Nacua and Adams.

The Rams re-signed Atwell to a one-year deal after his fourth season with the team. Atwell caught 42 passes for 569 yards last season. His receptions and receiving yard totals have increased every year he’s been in the league. Based on McVay’s comments, that trend is likely to continue next season.
