South Park is known for its ability to quickly respond to current events, sometimes providing commentary on controversies only days after they happen. To further prove that point, they made their debut episode for their 18th season as accurate as possible.
The episode dealt with the Redskins nickname — an issue that they teased in a commercial that played during the Redskins-Eagles game on Sunday — and one of the aspects astute sports fans appreciated is how the show swapped out Robert Griffin III and replaced him with Kirk Cousins. Here’s the original promo that featured RG3 in an office with Dan Snyder:
Cousins became the team’s starter after RG3 got hurt, so South Park felt it was appropriate to update that aspect for their episode.
