It has been well over a year since Stedman Bailey survived being shot twice in the head, and the former Rams wide receiver has not given up on returning to the NFL.
In an Instagram post over the weekend, Bailey said he has another surgical procedure coming up that he believes will increase his chances of playing football again.
“Got a procedure coming up that WILL increase my chances of stepping back out there drastically!” Bailey wrote. “Some people hit me up like Man U have made enough money, playing again isn’t worth it. Well for one, I damn sure owe it to myself to try everything within my power to get back on the field. I know God work in mysterious ways. Sometimes we as people can become confused looking for a specific blessing. Some blessings are delayed but not denied.”
Bailey said he will listen to his doctors if they determine it is not in his best interests to play after his upcoming procedure.
“Some blessings are delayed but not denied. & after this procedure if doctors think it’s too risky for my health and well being then I’ll accept that this door has closed in my life. But until then Ima ball until I fall!”
When you read the details of what happened to Bailey back in November 2015, you get an idea of how lucky he is to be alive. At just 26 years old, Bailey is still young even by NFL standards. However, he will still have to overcome some long odds to make a comeback possible.
