Stefon Diggs frustrated over his lack of production
After three seasons of explosive production, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs has taken a step back this season. Those recent struggles have taken their toll, and Diggs is unable to hide his frustration.
Diggs admitted his recent seven-game stretch has been “frustrating” as he deals with constant double-teams and a sudden problem with drops. In his last seven contests, Diggs has posted a modest stat line of 38 catches for 373 yards with three touchdowns. He has eight total drops on the year, which already matches his career high.
“It’s rough, man,” Diggs said Thursday, via Tim Graham of The Athletic. “Even earlier in the year, I saw a lot of the doubles, but they’ve been doing a great job, especially when you put those first seven to eight games on tape of what you like to do. They’ve been doing a good job.
“For me, personally, I’ve been trying, bro. I promise you I’ve been trying. It’s not because of me.”
Diggs has always been the focal point of Buffalo’s passing game, but the attention on him from defenses seems to be ramped up even more this year. Making things easier is the fact that other wide receivers have not necessarily punished defenses for focusing on Diggs, as Gabriel Davis is the only other 500-yard receiver on the roster through 13 games.
There have been growing questions about whether Diggs thinks his quarterback is not doing the job for him. The wide receiver is not saying that, but as long as the production is below his standards, the question will be asked.
