The New England Patriots missed out on points on each of their first two drives of Super Bowl LIII on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, and a jinx is being blamed for one of the missed chances.
Prior to Stephen Gostkowski attempting a 46-yard field goal in the first quarter, CBS announcer Jim Nantz mentioned that no kicker had missed a field goal at the stadium that season. They even showed a graphic noting how NFL kickers were 31/31 on field goals at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

So guess what happened? Gostkowski missed the kick, of course. That was his third straight Super Bowl with a missed kick.
Not only did they have the missed kick in the first quarter, but Tom Brady threw an interception to end the team’s first possession, spoiling a scoring opportunity. It had to be the jinx!
