Texans release Brian Hoyer, Steelers reportedly interested
Brian Hoyer is officially out in Houston.
In a move that comes as no surprise, Hoyer was released by the Texans on Sunday. It doesn’t sound as if he’ll be unemployed for very long, with the Pittsburgh Steelers said to have interest.
Texans have released QB Brian Hoyer. He will be in demand. Steelers among those interested in him

Hoyer became expendable when Houston landed Brock Osweiler in March. He has plenty of starting experience, having been Cleveland’s primary starter in 2014 and starting down the stretch for a playoff team in Houston in 2015. Of course, the less said about the playoff game, the better.
The Steelers are looking for a quality backup, and Hoyer would fit that bill. However, expect him to wait a bit to see if he can find a landing spot where he’ll have a chance to compete for a starting job. At least one team in need of a quarterback may have interest in him.
