Titans DC Dean Pees announces retirement

Tennessee Titans

After a very brief initial retirement, Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Dean Pees is saying farewell for good.

Pees, a longtime NFL defensive coordinator, announced Monday that he would retire from coaching.

The 70-year-old Pees initially retired after the 2017 season before being lured out of that brief retirement weeks later after Mike Vrabel was named the Titans’ head coach. In both of Pees’ seasons as Titans defensive coordinator, his unit ranked in the top half of the league in points allowed, finishing third in that category in 2018. That unit was a key part of the team’s run to the AFC Championship game.

Pees had some health issues in 2018, and had already been ready to retire before the Titans lured him back to the sport. This one looks to be more permanent.
