Titans executives caught off guard by Super Bowl question

Tennessee Titans executives were put in an awkward spot Tuesday by a pointed question about the team’s Super Bowl ambitions, or lack thereof.

Titans president Chad Brinker and general manager Mike Borgonzi met with the media on Tuesday, but one reporter had a rather pointed question about whether the team the Titans put on the field tomorrow can win the Super Bowl. Brinker and Borgonzi were left looking uncomfortably at each other as they tried to answer the question.

“That’s always the goal every year. We also realize we have a lot of work to do on this roster,” Borgonzi ultimately replied.

The Titans are not expected to be contenders in 2025 and everyone knows it. On the other hand, nobody running the team wants to openly admit that. One could argue it’s not a completely fair question, and it certainly had the bosses squirming a bit.

The Titans do have some hope after drafting quarterback Cam Ward first overall. They will need him to be a franchise piece if they do want to contend anytime soon, and he seems to have a modest amount of pull with the front office.

Expectations remain low for the Titans coming off last year’s 3-14 campaign. They would love to prove people wrong, but realistically, they have a lot of work to do.
