The Tennessee Titans made a change to their coaching staff after a disastrous special teams showing on Sunday.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel announced that the team is parting ways with special teams coach Craig Aukerman. The move comes one day after the Titans had two punts blocked against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Titans did not have much of a choice but to make this change. In addition to the two blocked punts, punter Ryan Stonehouse was injured on the second one. Kicker Nick Folk also missed an extra point in the fourth quarter that would have put Tennessee up by a point. Instead, the Titans lost in overtime to the Colts.

Vrabel’s job appears to be safe, but the Titans will want to show some competitiveness between now and the end of the season. Making a staff change is a clear indicator that the status quo is not good enough.
