WR Torrey Smith takes issue with fine
Torrey Smith had some serious issues with the fine he incurred for unnecessary roughness committed in Week 2.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Friday that Smith had been fined just over $10,000 for unnecessary roughness for a retaliatory hit in the Carolina Panthers’ loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Fines are often announced on Friday, and Smith said he hadn’t heard about it, leading him to think he had escaped the financial penalty. Rapoport’s report proved him otherwise.
Damn! How did you find out before me? I thought I dodged a bullet smh https://t.co/hvErHgenlB

More importantly, Smith was miffed about his fine being the same amount Damontae Kazee’s. Kazee initiated with a dirty hit on Cam Newton, against which Smith retaliated.
How is the shoving fine equal to the actual hit? That’s crazy. If you aren’t familiar with the cash bail system it’s just like the NFL in this situation. Someone pulls a random number out of their behind with no real reason for it and you have to deal with it.

Smith further said that if the hit were against a quarterback other than Cam Newton, the fine for Kazee would have been much higher.
I hate to see any player lose money but if that hit was on any other QB but Cam that fine would’ve been a trillion dollars pic.twitter.com/hPycXhLL4g

You know that Cam’s father won’t disagree with Smith on this one.
