Travis Hunter’s father has once again gotten himself into trouble with the law.
Travis Hunter Sr., the father of the Jacksonville Jaguars star rookie Hunter, was arrested this week in Palm Beach County, Fla., TMZ Sports reported on Wednesday. Hunter Sr. has reportedly been booked into jail on one charge of a probation violation.
Law enforcement alleged in court documents obtained by TMZ that Hunter Sr. was “too far away” from his electronic monitoring device for 11 minutes on June 28. Subsequent testing revealed that the device was working properly, and Hunter Sr. himself allegedly told law enforcement that he was simply “moving too fast and forgot about it.”
An arrest warrant was issued for Hunter Sr. on July 10, and he was booked into jail on July 22. Now Hunter Sr. is set to have a court hearing on the matter on July 24. You can read TMZ’s full report on the situation here.
Hunter Sr., 39, was on probation stemming from a 2023 arrest on drug and gun charges. He was sentenced to 90 days in prison but ended up getting released three weeks early. However, Hunter Sr. was ordered to remain on probation for three years and also to serve one year of home confinement upon his release from jail.
Because of his legal troubles, Hunter Sr. was unable to attend his son’s Heisman Trophy ceremony last December, sparking widespread questions. Hunter Sr. was in attendance though when his son was selected with the No. 2 overall pick by the Jaguars during the 2025 NFL Draft in April, having gotten permission to travel out of state.
The younger Hunter just had his first day of NFL training camp with Jacksonville on Wednesday. Likely to continue as a two-way player in the pros, the 22-year-old Hunter has already had fans buzzing with some of the plays that he has made this offseason.
