Trent Richardson joins new AAF league
Trent Richardson is joining a new professional football league now that his NFL opportunities have dried up.
The former No. 3 overall pick by the Cleveland Browns was announced on Wednesday as the latest signee of the Birmingham team in The Alliance of American Football league.

Richardson last registered an official stat in the NFL in 2014, though he did go to camp with the Ravens in 2016. He was playing in the CFL last year but got released from his contract so he could sign with the AAF.
“Excited about this,” Richardson told AL.com about joining the AAF. “Another opportunity for my professional career. Happy to be doing something that I really love doing, especially in Alabama and in Birmingham, which is a home away from home for me.”
Richardson, 28, went to college at Alabama, which is what makes this a home away from home for him. The former SEC Offensive Player of the Year is looking to prove he can still play.
