Trevor Siemian remains factor in Broncos’ quarterback competition
Mark Sanchez and Paxton Lynch have received most of the publicity in the Denver Broncos’ quarterback race, but there’s a third name involved that should not be dismissed.
Broncos.com beat writer Andrew Mason said in a recent mailbag that Siemian has a “legitimate shot” at being a starter, and more notably, Denver coaches are taking notice of the young quarterback.
Siemian was a 7th round pick in 2015, so even with his competition, it would be an upset if he wins the job. Coach Gary Kubiak has been talking him up, though, last month stating he was neck-and-neck with Sanchez.
Gary Kubiak on battle b/w Mark Sanchez/Trevor Siemian: "Those two guys are right there with each other. It's a very competitive situation."

Perhaps it’s a smokescreen, but it’s a rather sustained line coming from Broncos HQ. In fact, we’ve been hearing it for over a month, so it’s probably time to take it seriously. If the Broncos are running a truly open competition, the job will go to whoever impresses most – even if it’s Siemian.
