The Cleveland Browns turned things up a notch in the third quarter of their game with the New York Jets on Thursday thanks to some exciting plays.
The defense held the Jets to two punts and created a turnover on a fumble, while Baker Mayfield led the offense to two scoring drives (one set up by the fumble). After leading them on a touchdown drive to make it 14-12, the Browns went for two. Their first attempt did not work, but they got a second shot thanks to a penalty.
The Browns then broke out their version of the “Philly Special” the Eagles ran in the Super Bowl to beat the Patriots.

Eagles lineman Lane Johnson certainly thought the play looked familiar.

The Eagles did too.

The trick play worked perfectly for the Browns, with Baker Mayfield getting open easily and catching the pass without a problem. Now that so many teams are starting to adopt them, defenses should start to make adjustments. Until that point, these plays are money in the bank.
