Update emerges on Dan Orlovsky’s future with ESPN

Dan Orlovsky made some cryptic remarks earlier this year that led to speculation about his future with ESPN, but the longtime analyst is not going anywhere.

Orlovsky is close to finalizing a contract extension with ESPN, according to a Monday report from Michael McCarthy and Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports. While the deal has not been completed, the two sides are described as being “at the 1-yard line” in their negotiations.

Andrew Marchand of The Athletic first reported last month that Orlovsky was expected to remain with ESPN.

Orlovsky shared a photo on his Instagram story over the weekend with a drink lifted in the air and wrote, “Here’s to what’s next,” which may have been a reference to him reaching an agreement with ESPN.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter said in January that Orlovsky was speaking with NFL teams about potential coaching opportunities. It is possible that Orlovsky was using interest from teams as leverage in negotiations, though he has suggested that he would like to coach at some point.

After the 2024 NFL season ended, Orlovsky said goodbye to some of his colleagues on the air as if he would not be back. That led to rumblings that he might be leaving ESPN, but he was back on the air a short while later.

Orlovsky, 41, is a former NFL quarterback. He is one of ESPN’s most prominent football voices, so it is hardly a surprise that the network is making sure to keep him around.
