Victor Cruz calls out Josh Norman for not covering Antonio Brown

Victor Cruz

Add Victor Cruz’s name to the list of New York Giants wide receivers who aren’t fond of Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman.

In an interview with Paul Schwartz of the New York Post on Wednesday, Cruz threw some shade Norman’s way for not covering Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown in the Redskins’ Week 1 loss.

“Especially if he calls himself – I don’t call him this, he calls himself – the best corner in the league, then you have to cover the best receivers on the other team,” Cruz said of Norman. “Going in I thought he was going to follow AB all over the place but he didn’t so it is what it is. He made his choice.

“It’s always his choice,” Cruz said. “He can go to the powers that be and say ‘Hey, I want to cover this guy.’ And if they say no, if maybe he did that and they said no, then I’ll have to eat my words. But for the most part you can go and make that request I’m sure.”

Brown had himself an all-you-can-eat buffet matched up against Bashaud Breeland instead of Norman, catching eight passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-10 blowout victory for the Steelers.

Norman, of course, had a much-publicized beef with Cruz’s teammate, Odell Beckham Jr, dating back to last season when he was a Carolina Panther. As such, it probably goes without saying that Cruz wasn’t going to miss an opportunity to salsa dance all over Norman’s ego, especially before the Giants and the Redskins face off in Week 3.
