Ashton Jeanty may be shorter than Isaiah Thomas, but he can still throw down.
The star running back prospect Jeanty went viral this week over a ridiculous video of him dunking a basketball in the gym. Jeanty tossed the ball ahead to himself and then caught it and threw down the one-handed slam with ease.
Jordan Schultz of Yahoo! Sports shared the impressive clips.
Jeanty, the Heisman Trophy runner-up last season, is only 5-foot-8 (though some sources have him listed at very slightly taller than that). 5-foot-8 is the same height as the shortest active player in the NBA right now (Yuki Kawamura of the Memphis Grizzlies) and would make Jeanty one of the shortest running backs in the NFL.
But at a burly 216 pounds, Jeanty makes up for what he might lack in height with physical dominance and explosiveness. He ran for an FBS-leading 2,601 yards to go along with 29 touchdowns for Boise State last year, showcasing many stunning feats of athletic prowess along the way. Jeanty was also looking absurdly muscular during his Pro Day last month.
The 21-year-old Jeanty is currently projected to be a top 5-10 pick in this year’s NFL Draft (which will be held next week in Green Bay, Wisc.). Jeanty recently went viral for some bold comments calling his shot ahead of the draft. With his versatility as an all-around athlete as well, Jeanty is certainly giving NFL general managers some very good reasons to take the swing on him.
