Young was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on a $500 bond following the arrest, and was released the following morning around 10:30 a.m.
Arresting officers say they approached Young’s vehicle when he was in the left hand turn land with the hazards on. Initially, they believed they were coming to the aid of a driver before they noticed Young was slurring his speech and smelled of alcohol.
“The deputy noticed slurred speech and a strong smell of alcoholic beverage,” the Fort Bend County sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Young later failed a field sobriety test.
Young was a first-round pick of the Tennessee Titans in the 2006 NFL Draft. He spent five years with the team before bouncing around the league, eventually retiring following the 2014 season.
