Vontaze Burfict likely to be suspended multiple games for hit on Jack Doyle
Vontaze Burfict earned himself another ejection on Sunday for an illegal hit on an opposing player, and the Oakland Raiders could be without the veteran linebacker for several games as a result.
Burfict is facing a multiple-game suspension for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. He has been suspended three times during his NFL career and two of them were for illegal hits, so the league will take that into account.
Raiders LB Vontaze Burfict will be suspended as early as today for his hit on Colts TE Jack Doyle, per sources. Based on his history, it is likely to be multi-games.

Burfict appeared to launch himself at Doyle on Sunday while the tight end was basically already on the ground.

Those are the types of hits we have seen all too often from Burfict, and they’re precisely the ones the NFL has worked to eliminate for years. You knew a suspension was coming as soon as he delivered the hit, and now it is just a question of how long he will be out.
