Report: Vontaze Burfict facing suspension for hit on Antonio Brown
Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict is reportedly facing a suspension for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Antonio Brown on Saturday.
Burfict came in helmet-to-helmet on Brown and concussed him on the hit. It earned him a fifteen yard penalty that helped hand the game to the Steelers. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Burfict will face a suspension for the hit, with ProFootballTalk’s Michael David Smith noting that Burfict’s position as a repeat offender will almost certainly lead to a ban.
Schefter also reported that Steelers assistant coach Joey Porter will face a fine for entering the field of play during an injury timeout and engaging Bengals players. Pacman Jones blamed Porter for baiting him into taking the final boneheaded penalty.
Burfict definitely deserves a suspension for his hit. It was dangerous and stupid, though he’s already been punished in a certain way by costing his team the game.
