The Dallas Cowboys have had one of the best offensive lines in football for several years, and keeping it together has required a great deal of financial resources. They may need to commit even more money to the unit heading into 2018.
ESPN’s Todd Archer reports that Cowboys guard Zack Martin has not taken part in organized team activities, and it seems as though the two-time All-Pro wants a new contract.
All-Pro right guard Zack Martin did not take part in Tuesday’s OTA and it’s not clear if he will work in any of them, according to multiple sources. The Cowboys and Martin’s agents have been in talks regarding a long-term deal over the last few weeks…. https://t.co/nO8FuPS57Q

Martin, a first-round pick in 2014, is playing out the last year of his rookie deal after the Cowboys picked up his $9.3 million option for 2018. The former Notre Dame star has made the Pro Bowl in each of the past four seasons, so he likely wants to be paid like the top guards in football. Andrew Norwell is currently at the top of the position after he signed a five-year, $66 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason.
Given how they have handled their wide receiver group this offseason, it seems as though the Cowboys are as committed as ever to the running game heading into 2018. Without Martin, running the football would be a lot more difficult.
