Rory McIlroy shows off nasty ankle injury
Rory McIlroy is inching closer to his return from an ankle injury he suffered a month ago. On Thursday, the world No. 1 golfer gave us a glimpse of how nasty the injury was and how far he has come in his recovery.
According to McIlroy’s description on Instagram, the photo you see above on the left was his ankle immediately after he tore a ligament while playing soccer with some friends. The photo on the right was taken a week later.
When you consider the baseball-sized swelling, it’s impressive that McIlroy is back to swinging clubs and might play in the PGA Championship next week.
We have certainly seen more disgusting ankle injuries in past years, but that was no joke. Hopefully McIlroy is back to full strength soon. Golf is more exciting when he’s part of the field.
