The F-bombs were flying during the second round of The Open Championship on Friday, and one of them even came from a member of the media.
Smylie Kaufman, a former PGA golfer who currently works for NBC, was one of the on-course analysts at the 2025 Open Championship. He was reporting from the 15th hole on Friday and providing analysis of a Jon Rahm birdie putt when something appeared to distract him.
Kaufman stopped his commentary mid-sentence and was silent for a couple of seconds before he appeared to say, “What the f–?”

It is not uncommon for TV cameras to pick up on an F-bomb or two during a golf tournament, especially a major. Shane Lowry offered one up during the PGA Championship earlier this year and again during The Open on Friday.
What is far less common is hearing a member of the broadcast team curse. Kaufman almost seemed to forget that he was on the air.
NBC announcer Mike Tirico apologized during the broadcast on behalf of Kaufman a short while later.
