Shane Lowry struggled on Friday at the PGA Championship and was completely unable to control himself or his emotions.
After an impressive drive on the 353-yard par-4 8th, Lowry was very nearly positioned for a 57-yard flip for eagle. However, there was one glaring problem: His ball bounced three times before landing in a huge divot caused by another golfer and the bad weather.
Because Lowry’s ball was partially submerged in someone else’s divot, Rule 16.3 did not permit relief. A brief protest with an official did not yield the results he wanted.
As a result, Lowry offered up some choice words.
“F–k this place,” Lowry howled as he slammed the turf with his wedge, creating an even larger divot.
Things only spiraled from there.
Rather than an eagle or birdie, Lowry was left with a shot for par and missed. The resulting bogey caused more fury as the 38-year-old proceeded to flip off his ball.
Lowry is no stranger to outbursts and famously snapped a club over his neck at the 2023 British Open. It’s also not the first time he’s dropped some F-bombs.
