Tiger Woods withdraws from Farmers Open with back injury

Tiger Woods has once again withdrawn from a tournament because of his bad back.

Woods withdrew Thursday from the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines during the 12th hole. It was the third time in nine events that he has pulled out because of a back injury.

Tiger says he felt well at first but a two-hour delay between his warmups and the start of his round caused his body to stiffen.

“It’s frustrating that it started shutting down like that,” Woods said via ESPN.com. “I was ready to go. I had a good warm-up session the fist time around. Then we stood out here and I got cold, and everything started deactivating again. And it’s frustrating that I just can’t stay activated. That’s just kind of the way it is.”

Tiger, 39, is having a bad start to the season. He missed the cut in Phoenix last weekend after shooting a career-worst 82 in the second round.
