Most of us were surprised to learn a couple of years back that Lindsey Vonn, who was dating Tiger Woods at the time, had become good friends with Tiger’s ex-wife Elin Nordegren. At some point, the relationship between Woods and Vonn deteriorated. It sounds like Vonn’s relationship with Nordegren followed the same path.
Page Six reports that party organizers at the Kentucky Derby over the weekend were instructed to not seat Vonn and Nordegren anywhere close to one another. Both Vonn and Nordegren reportedly attended the Barnstable Brown Foundation Gala the night before the race, and there was an effort to keep them separated.
“The staff was being told over a walkie-talkie that Lindsey was on her way over and must be put in a different area from Elin,” a source told Page Six. “They were very clear about that.”
Another source claimed Nordegren got along well with Vonn before because Elin’s and Tiger’s children, Sam and Charlie, were fond of the Olympic skier. A representative for Vonn insisted Lindsey and Elin are on “great terms” and that no request was made for them to be seated apart from one another.
The reason why Vonn supposedly broke up with Woods was a very predictable one. We wouldn’t be surprised if Vonn and Nordegren were only keeping the peace for the sake of the kids, but it also wouldn’t be shocking if they simply wanted to avoid awkward tabloid headlines by not interacting in public.
